AUBREY PATTERSON

Youth Coordinator

Aubrey Patterson (she/her) has taught for twelve years as a director of choirs in Oregon high schools. She is the Artistic Director for the Oregon Repertory Singers Youth Choir in Portland, as well as the director of Voces Aureum at Lewis and Clark. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in music education and vocal performance, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in secondary choral music education from Oregon State University. Patterson’s Oregon high school programs have earned five state championships. Internationally, Ms. Patterson has served as director of choirs at the Sichuan, China Conservatory of Music summer camp, and as the assistant director of the Oregon Ambassadors of Music Europe tour. Patterson is the youngest ever Oregon-certified choral adjudicator and enjoys adjudicating, clinician work, and premiering new and commissioned works with her ensembles. She enjoys the outdoors, being in water in any capacity, and adventures with her partner Nathan and dog Zoey Jane.

DEAN LUETHI

Collegiate Coordinator & 4-year College/University Choirs

Dr. Dean Luethi serves as the Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor at Washington State University. He received degrees from University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, University of South Florida in Tampa, and University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign. Before working at WSU, Dean was a high/middle school choir and musical theatre director in the Green Bay area. Known for his work as a choral pedagogue, Dean has presented research, workshops, or conducted choirs at festivals, conferences, and competitions in the US, India, China, Cuba, Canada, Austria, Poland, and Germany. He is published in Choral Journal and Music Educator’s Journal. Dean’s book Aligning Voices: Exercises to Build Choral Musicianship is available through GIA Publications. He is the past chair of the NAfME Council for Choral Education. Dean lives with his wife, Ruth Boden, in Pullman, WA. In his free time, He enjoys amateur photography and spending time with their two cats.

DAVID GARDNER

Lifelong Coordinator

David B. Gardner, DMA, has conducted college, community, and church choirs for more than three decades, and since 2014 has served at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA where he is the Director of Worship and the Arts. He holds degrees from Seattle Pacific University, Western Seminary, and The University of Arizona. David has served as a guest conductor at honor choirs and festivals in Arizona, California, Kansas, New York, Tennessee, and Washington, and has traveled with his choirs nationally and internationally. He is a Past President of the Kansas Choral Directors Association, and currently serves as the NWACDA Repertoire and Resources Chair for Music in Worship. David and his wife Cheryl have four wonderful daughters and one wonderful granddaughter.

ALONSO BRIZUELA

Repertoire-Specific Coordinator

Alonso Brizuela is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Lakes High School in Lakewood, WA, and conducts the Tenor/Bass Choir with Tacoma Youth Chorus. Mr. Brizuela recently completed his Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington with Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Dr. Giselle Wyers. His previous education experience took him from his BME at Pacific Lutheran University to teach choir and guitar at Ridgeline Middle School in Yelm, WA. Alonso is an active participant in the local music community, having sung with PLU Choral Union, and adjudicating Solo & Ensemble contests and large group festivals around the Pacific Northwest.
