Interest Session 2
1/24/24 | 4:30-5:30pm
Clinical Mental Health and the Choral Rehearsal
Session Description
The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated already-brewing mental health issues for many people. With an emphasis on making mental health and wellness a priority and a shortage of mental health professionals, it is not unusual to wait months to receive counseling a clinical setting, especially for underserved populations and those in rural areas. The purpose of this session is to introduce, demonstrate, and discuss evidence-based techniques through which conductor-teachers can optimize opportunities to augment the mental health and wellness of all people in rehearsal settings. Participants will leave the session with techniques they can use upon returning to their choral rehearsals.
